Miracle at Gimron
CHAPTER 11
Yeshua performs his first resurrection of the dead by bringing the head priest of Gimron, Tobiah, back to life after he was struck dead by a Roman soldier. Yeshua explains the importance of love and faith.
One day, when Yeshua’s time among the community of Gimron was drawing to a close, a party of eight Roman soldiers came into the village, demanding a tribute to Caesar from all inhabitants.
Though the brethren were wroth with the Romans, they dared not show it and incur the wrath of armed soldiers; therefore, the three priests that led the community approached the Romans, and the head priest Tobiah spoke to them, saying, “We are a poor village of humble means dedicated to preserving the strait paths of God. We have little and what we have, we share in common; we therefore have no means to give Caesar individual tribute.”
In that instant, without a word, but on a signal from the officer, a soldier stuck Tobiah with a deep prick from his pilum. And the community was of great sorrow and desired to rush to the side of Tobiah as he lay dying, but the Romans forbid it until the tribute was brought forth.
Everyone then made haste and soon gathered a small pile of valuables including a silver coin that Abraham had left for Yeshua and Yochanan. The leader of the soldiers noticed the coin and made inquiry how it was that an isolated community had possession of a coin from Persia.
But the Priests disavowed knowledge of the origin of the coin, and the Romans departed after beating the remaining two priests of the community leadership.
When the soldiers were beyond sight, the community rushed to the side of the stricken Tobiah, but they were too late for he had already breathed his last breath.
They mourned loudly because of his death, and one of the priests began to issue instructions to prepare their friend for burial when Yeshua quietly walked among them; they noticed him not as he knelt down beside the body of Tobiah and, placing a hand upon his head, was heard by a few who were near to quietly say, “By the will of my Father.”
At that very moment, the eyes of Tobiah opened brightly and he sat up with a startled expression. And all the community marveled that he lived; and it was noticed by only a few, including Yochanan, that it was Yeshua who had wrought this miracle, and to these, Yeshua held his extended finger to his lips, making a sign that they should remain silent to what they had seen.
There was a certain woman in the community named Rachael, the wife of Rubin, who had befriended Yeshua and Yochanan and looked in upon them with motherly concern. Because of her closeness to them, she perceived they were favored of the Lord.
She was among those who had witnessed Tobiah, who had been killed, return to life upon the touch of Yeshua. One day before he departed, she came up to Yeshua and whispered to him in private, “Tell me in truth, did you bring life back to the body of he who had died?”
And Yeshua answered, “I do nothing of my own; only by the will of our Father in Heaven did he return from his sleep.”
But Rachel was of inquisitive mind and perceived there must be a deeper answer hidden still, and she asked, “By what power does God so work miracles in you?”
And Yeshua answered, “Upon the strength of love and faith was his life restored.”
Then Rachel replied, “By the power of whose love and whose faith? For was this not the same Tobiah who was among those who forbid you entrance to the lectures of the Right Leader? Did God so love him to return his life or was his faith so great? Or did you whom he had chastised hold such great love for him?”
And Yeshua answered unto her, “Life is given by God and it is most precious, for it is in life that you fulfill your purpose on Earth and create your eternity to come.
If you would love God, love everything God has created with a pure love that sings in your soul, for all life has a grand purpose that connects to all other life.
Love the birds in the air, the beasts upon the ground, and the fish in the sea. Remember, in their demeanor, they only reflect that which they see and can only give back to you that which they receive from you.
Love the plants that grow in abundance, for they give great beauty to the world and vital sustenance to man.
Even love your enemies and those who have wronged you that the mirror of life will reflect back to you that which you have shown.
Verily, hate merely continues upon an endless circling path that takes away the years of your life and gives nothing in return; only reciprocated love and respect can break the cycle of destruction and build a bridge of light to tomorrow.
And by this, may your enemies become your friends.
And then, if you have love, add to it a faith without doubt and your life will witness miracles and wonders, and that which you ask in love and righteousness, which serves the purposes of God, will ever be given to you by Elohim.
Verily, love and faith can prevail against all obstacles, even death, if it is the will of our Father and Mother in Heaven.”
And Rachael bowed her head in awe and reverence, saying, “How can a young man do and know such things? Surely you are chosen of God.”
And Yeshua bid her to keep those thoughts within her heart and to tell no one, for it was not yet time for him to be persecuted.
